2D: Health

Health

Vim (Wound) Points represent the character’s actual physical condition, their true health. Generally a character doesn’t start loosing wound points until they run out of vitality, though some combat options can circumvent this. Loosing wound points represents scarring and other such serious injuries. When a character’s wound points go below 10 wound they suffer a corresponding penalty to their rolls (see chart below). Whenever a character takes Wound damage they also have to make a physical resist roll with a goal of 10 plus the total wound damage they have sustained. If they fail this roll they fall unconscious for a number of rounds equal to 1/5th of the total wound damage they have received (rounded up) plus 1. When a character is reduced to 0 wound they are unable do anything (aside maybe for some last words) and are dying. In subsequent rounds they loose 1 wound per round automatically and then must make a physical resist roll based on the wound damage they have sustained. If they pass they are stabilized, but unconscious and possibly in a coma. If they fail by half the goal score they are dead. Also if their negative wound is over their maximum health they are dead. Though with all the powers there might be someone who can bring back the dead.

Vigor (Vitality) Points represent the characters energy to do physical activity. The base Vigor is determined by adding up all of the Physical Stats except Appearance. Vigor loss is represents minor injuries like scrapes and small bruises. Loosing vitality has no real impact on a character until they run out of vitality.

Recovery is the characters capacity to catch their breath and regain vitality. Recovery usually costs 10 AP to do, but this can be affected by Aptitudes and such.

Healing Rate determines how quickly the character can regain wound points. The base is 1 with a bonus equal to 10% (rounded down) of their Fortitude. The amount of wound points healed per day is modified by a multiplier based on the situation the character is healing in: Any strenuous activity = x 0/ no healing, low activity is x 1, bed rest is x2, competent care is x3, professional hospital care is x 4, these multipliers are progressive and do not stack. A character with 0 or less hp must heal until at a positive number to do any real action. The Narrator may allow an action in this state, but causes damage equal to AP used and even if this only does vitality damage afterward they count as bleeding out and loose 1 hit point per round (see above).
