The Rite of Initiation

 

This is when a character becomes aware of the magic world. For a non-empowered being it is when they witness a power and remember it. For empowered it is usually when their power first manifests. For empowered raised as such it is usually a planned event. For those raised not aware of their power it is quite a surprise and usually turns their world upside down. For empowered the initial figuring out what their power generally does is considered part of this rite. For most the first manifestation comes with a massive power surge, which could be dangerous, though some have hints of their power in the days leading up to this.
